Maurizia (Izia) Cardoni was born in 1946 in Vorno (Lucca), where she still lives and creates her paintings. She graduated at the Art Institute "Augusto Passaglia" in Lucca, from 1967 she has been came part in the artistic environment with solo and group exhibitions in Tuscany and outside her region.

She participated in numerous national competitions, gaining awards and positive critical reports. Until 1994, she prefers the refined batik technique of eastern origins.

From 1995, gradually abandoned the batik technique and restart to make oil paints.

Her works are characterized by an unmistakable style. They depict historical monuments in the land of Lucca, Tuscany landscapes, moments of everyday life. Often they depict characters from another age, in an indefinable and magic situation. Predominate bright and brilliant colors, giving to the paintings an extremely impressive chromaticity. They transmit serenity and positive feelings to the observer.

The artwork of Cardoni are part of several private collections in the USA, France, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Canada, Great Britain and Italy.
